movie review - Spy Game

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Calgary, 2002.04.26

This is a movie about two CIA agents. Like a pair of Jedi, one is the master and one the apprentice. The apprentice begins the movie by getting himself busted during a jail break in China; he spends the rest of the film being beaten to death. The master starts the movie learning of his protege's arrest, and spends the rest of the flick playing games with the CIA's rulers to try and free the other. This results in the revelation of a lot of their past, and a bizarre night-time strike into mainland China. But, I found it hard to care because the way everything was presented, I was pretty sure the movie's makers didn't.

Not recommended.
