lens shopping with no money

While getting a roll of negatives developed (for $2.14) I happened to notice a lens under the counter at the camera shop. It was a used Tamron SP 35-110mm zoom lens with a whopping 67mm diameter. It had the adapter fitting for which there is an adapter that works with my camera. I asked to see it - knowing full well that I couldn't afford it - and my my it was nice. It was a reasonably recent model, with the single grip that controls both zoom and focus (unlike my 75-210mm Tamron SP, which is much older and has two grips). They wanted nearly $600 for it, but eventually said, "$500". A new one costs $US 1500!! Now if I only had a job....
