movie review - Facade

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 1999.11.12

Fncking godawful. I rented this - despite my general rule never to see anything with Eric Roberts, due to his singular bad taste in movies - because it was suggested by someone at the little shop where I rent flicks.

It aims for zany and slick, but it achieves cheesy and insulting. Don't see this, or you'll regret it. Maybe not as much as a tattoo of Eric Roberts, but you'll regret it.

Not recommended.

Illusions commend themselves to us because they save us pain and allow us to enjoy pleasure instead. We must therefore accept it without complaint when they sometimes collide with a bit of reality against which they are dashed to pieces.
