movie review - Happy Texas

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 1999.10.22

A funny story of two bad robbers who break out of prison and get mistaken for the gay couple visiting the tiny town of Happy, Texas, where they're expected to put on a beauty pageant for girls. It's actually considerably better than it sounds, with excellent writing and good performances by all (especially Macy, natch). I really enjoyed what they did with this.

Strongly recommended.

My grandfather once told me that there are two kinds of people: those who work and those who take the credit. He told me to try to be in the first group; there was less competition there.
