movie review - South Park

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 1999.07.13

In a word? Vile. Pushing for the most puerile, offensive reaches of NC-17 or whatever, the South Park guys have actually also made a watchable, entertaining movie. Don't get me wrong - this isn't Wag the Dog, but if you can stomach the unending, uncompromisingly offensive content, this is a very funny flick. I mean, what the hell do you expect from South Park? This movie contains song with titles that contain obscenities, like Terrence & Philips Shut your f*cking face, unclef*cker!

I enjoyed the big-screen treatment of the familiar TV characters. I liked the subjugation of a plot to the gags and character interactions.

Recommended.
