movie review - Sliding Doors

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 1999.01.26

This one has a great cast but is kind of slow. And chock full o' pregnancies, I must say. And longing looks. And a surprising English accent from our heroine.

This movie hinges around the schism that forms between two paths our hero's life take when she a) catches her train and finds her live-in mooching lover in bed with another woman, and begins a new life or b) fails to catch him in the act, and carries on supporting him. Both story lines are peppered with trite scenes and irritations like the husband's mistress trying to get caught through suddenly turning up in certain places.

Not recommended. I rather regret my investment in this.
