movie review - Brassed Off

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 1998.02.16

This little film from England starts off strong. It's about the coal-miners of Sheffield, who all lose their jobs when the Tory government decides to shut down the coal mine. The minors have a band, and the band attempts to play on. In the end, it gets a little stupid, but on the whole it's worth a watch.

Recommended.
