movie review - Swingers

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 1997.05.31

A movie about a group of would-be Hollywood actors on the prowl for women and careers. It takes you right into the ugly, elitist world of parties and jazz bars, where unemployed beautiful people squabble and mate. Inside this world, our hero tries to get over the long-time girlfriend he ditched to make the move to L.A. He eventually does, through a therapeutic haul around the circuit with his pals. Not much really happens, but the sheer banality of the setting is amusing.

Not recommended.
