dead man on the Gardiner

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 1997.03.10

I noticed that the traffic was unusually light on the Gardiner Expressway this morning. It looked like this:

I realized that there was a dead man under a tarp on the highway. Someone had walked up there and had of course been struck and killed. Anyway, I went to work. This is the second time I've seen a dead person in my two years here.

I made this crop of the image.

rand()m quote

I feel fortunate that I enjoyed the blandishments of modernity. I had hip replacement and root canal. I was able to travel on airplanes. I was able to take cheap food for granted. I went to the movies. I enjoyed rock 'n' roll. And now I'm ready to move on.
