movie review - Restoration

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 1997.01.25

This was a pretty film, but a little long. It is about a doctor who lives during the reign of Charles II, who returned to the English throne just after Cronwell's fiasco, and who hires our good doctor as physician. The king also gives the doctor a mansion and one of the king's own mistresses as a wife. He later recalls both. The real story begins there-after. Cast includes Hugh Grant, Sam Neil, and Robert Downey Jr.

Recommended.
