and now, for Pentax

Kokubunji, 2026.04.13

I am looking for testers for my upcoming free Pentax raw photo management/editing software. It's a lightweight tool for rapidly moving through PEF files and exporting to JPG or TIF. I unimaginatively named it Pen>tif.

It is not intended as a full-featured editor — just a fast, focused tool for the Pentax shooter's workflow: quick tonal and colour adjustments, crop and rotation, light-touch sharpen and denoise and that's about it. It is 100% vibe-coded and runs on MacOS or on Linux for Intel (installs from a .deb, .rpm, or .AppImage file).

this is a typical raw file
crop with pre-defined setting or free-form
with one click, you can approximate the camera's JPG look
view the clipped highlights
and the crushed shadows (a regular feature of my 'style')
export to TIF or JPG (it remembers your destination)
explains the many keyboard controls
version one supports English, French, Japanese, and Chinese
seen here shifting the 'whites' (note the highlighted 'w')

So if you shoot raw on Pentax gear and export to JPG or TIF for your workflow, I'm planning this free Pentax->TIF utility I called Pen>tif. I'm currently looking for people to help me test it. Contact: michael@werneburg.ca
