I* made website that shows how many animals have gone extinct or will go extinct in your lifetime. It's only got some thirty records of extinct animals to start, but I reckon there are hundreds of thousands to come. Let me know if you want to contribute some favorite extinction episodes, or some ideas -- e.g. should I add drawings of the extinct creatures?
*When I say "I", I mean I designed the layout and concepts, did the architecture for the software, set up the server and database, and asked it to do the engineering. Which I had it do twice because the first time it wanted to build a standalone node server and I reckon server-side JS is the road to unmaintainability.
