We were eating at a sardine place this evening when one of my colleagues asked me in Japanese how my language studies were coming along. I responded that if I listened "strongly" I could understand what people at the next table were talking about. But that if I didn't listen strongly to what my colleagues were saying at our table, I wouldn't understand that.

Everyone at the table seemed shocked at my ability to explain this in Japanese. One of them said, ”めっちゃヤバい！” Which is modern Japanese slang loosely translated means, "sick!"
