and now 1440p

Nichinan, 2026.01.01

The very first thing I did this year was buy a new monitor.

Mari is now a regular employee of the Dutch multi-national household name company she's been temping for. She's up to her eyes in big excel tables, now, and needs a larger monitor. So I'm giving her my 4k 27" LG beast and am replacing that with a downsized 24" item. PC monitor shopping has only gotten harder as the years go by, and I must have looked at dozens of models and combos of models over two or three days. In the end I went with a minor (or new?) brand called Koorui, and decided not to go with two smaller monitors as I was seriously considering. I was thinking of pursuing the strengths of both the VA and IPS technologies (one is better for things like reading text, the other better for things like editing photos) because I'm increasingly finding eyestrain to be a problem. Hopefully I've chosen something that will suit my needs: the gods know I stare at my monitor enough hours of the day to be worth the investment.

P.S. Cheers to LG for making a workhorse monitor that has held up just fine for nearly six years.
