movie review - Ronin
Kokubunji, 2025.09.20
This was on The Boy's movie bucket list. It's about a handful of ex intelligence officers hired by unknown parties to secure a MacGuffin, in this case an armored briefcase with unknown contents. "What's in the box?" being the operative question for the first 2/3 of the movie.
What I enjoy about this thing is how the team of mutually strange-to-on-another spies and soldiers come together for the job. And how they don't. I like the tone, I like the plot, I like the pacing that blends high-speed action with appropriate moments for realistic dialog. I like the moment just before the finale when there's a scene of calm. I liked the inevitable betrayals, and I liked the outcome.
Strongly recommended.
Shout out to Larry, my favorite character. Damn.
