farewell to blackburn headlights

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Kokubunji, 2025.03.12

The strap broke on my beloved and possibly ten-to-twelve-year-old Blackburn headlight, pictured here. I tried to reach out to Blackburn because they'd twice replaced the unit after manufacturing defects, but they didn't respond.

farewell, old friend
I'm falling back on a much cheaper unit that takes double-a rechargeable batteries. It was an emergency purchase when I got caught cycling far away after a string of flats. I plan to use this for as many years as its cheap construction allows.

The lamp part of the Blackburn still works. Now I have a clip-on light for .. some purpose that will come to me.

rand()m quote

I really didn't foresee the Internet. But then, neither did the computer industry. Not that that tells us very much of course - the computer industry didn't even foresee that the century was going to end.
