racially profiled at work
Today I was racially profiled at a work function. Or I should say, nationally profiled. We had an ice-breaker event where people had a bingo card full of statements like, "has seen a bear in the woods". Countless people ran up to me as a Canadian, assuming I had seen a bear in the woods. Of course, I signed in the box for all of them. I've encountered bears in the woods, at the side of the road, near houses, on my bike, on foot...
When the IT senior management team was out for drinks later, I joking "complained" to the HR rep who was with us. She said, "They did the same for me; I'm from Hokkaido." ðŸ¤
Anyway, on just the English-language bingo card I realized that I could sign eight of the boxes. A ninth was almost in my grasp: "has lived on four continents".
