we're not in in Japan any more

When we returned the car at last, two days after the original due date, two things happened.
1. They were ecstatic to have a car actually returned. I tried to show them that I'd topped up the car just twenty minutes before arrival, and that the car was in flawless condition but the guy at the counter was so happy he just said, "Don't need that! You're done! Let's go!" This wouldn't have happened in Japan.
2. We were too late to take the shuttle back, but we caught a break. The shuttle driver saw us waiting by the bus and said, "I've gone off shift, you won't be able to take the bus." Five seconds later, he said, "Let's take my car." This would never, ever have happened in Japan.
I'm going to write to Sixt about the experience.
