finally seeing The Falls
Today we took care of a bunch of stuff like running to the storage unit and doing some final shopping in preparation for our return to Tokyo. We'd been invited to check in to our flight tomorrow, so we were feeling confident that things would work despite the 'labor dispute'.
So, The Boy and I went to Niagara Falls to take in the sights*. The weather has been cooling off from the heights of the first week we were here, and it was a pleasant walk. The Boy wanted to do some souvenir shopping, so we're now even more loaded with stuff. It was a relaxing day.
Then in the evening came the email that our flight had been straight up cancelled by "Err Canada". I spent the next two hours sorting out a replacement. Which, crazily, will take us home via Istanbul. Which means we'll have flown from Tokyo -> Toronto -> Istanbul -> Tokyo .. or right around the norther hemisphere. I'm out of pocket ¥190,000 and I'll lose two working days. Mari and I have decided that this is the end for us and Air Canada.
*We parked about as close as you can to the falls without paying for parking. This is not that actually that close but we saw a queue where people were paying $50 to park their car -- yikes!
