kanji studies progress

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Kokubunji, 2024.12.09

I'm using this tool called Wanikani to study Japanese kanji and vocabulary. Today I managed to complete (or "burn") some ten characters and words that it had been throwing at me.

Whenever I "burn" some, I then go back into my dashboard and start lessons on new characters to keep the whole thing going. I've been at this for sixteen months and I'm still on level five but it's somewhere. I really believe it's helping with my grammar studies, overall comprehension, and to a lesser extent my ability to speak.

A creative person would prefer their music to be stolen and enjoyed than ignored. This is the dilemma for every creative soul: he or she would prefer to starve and be heard than to eat well and be ignored.
