twenty-seven years and one million words

Kokubunji, 2024.08.03

I had an interesting day, today. I went to the clinic for more migraine drugs, and to my astonishment the place was empty so I was home well within an hour including the drug store. From there, it was time to start rounding up the fifteen baby goldfish whose time had come. I packed them up in nested garbage bag and those in my antique waterproof Sealline Baja 20. That went into my backpack along with a ice pack and off I went.

It was incredibly hot, of course, and I was held up several times with trains but I got there. I handed over the babies, I did a bit of shopping, and headed back. We now have only two of the three hundred fry that hatched from eggs on April 10. We'll keep them forever, I suppose. 'Til death do us 'part.

Less than a kilometer later, the bolt for my bike seat snapped. I turned to Google Maps. That led me to a bicycle parking place, then a closed bike repair shop, and finally to a bike shop that was open. They told me to leave the bike with them, and gave me a loaner mama-chari. I rode that hot in the broiling heat, met The Girl at the grocery store and then fed her and myself. I then went back to the bike shop where I learned that they didn't have the part I needed. So .. I took my bike back and then rode it home without a seat on.

Looking through my bike parts and gear, I realized I didn't have a spare part myself. So I took one off Mari's old bike and took The Girl to see an animated movie in Tachikawa. Not a bad way to put all the running behind me!
