undersea rivers that extend thousands of kilometers

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

I must be watching more science stuff these days on Youtube, because this was recommended for me. And I found it fascinating. I'd long since noticed some channels in the sea bed in various places, but this actually explains them. It turns out that in some places, there are sediment-laden undersea rivers that extend thousands of kilometers from the continental edges.

rand()m quote

Society is indeed a contract... [the state] is a partnership in all science; a partnership in all art; a partnership in every virtue, and in all perfection. As the ends of such a partnership cannot be obtained in many generations, it becomes a partnership not only between those who are living, but between those who are living, those who are dead, and those who are to be born.

—Edmund Burke
