movie review - The Last Padawan

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kokubunji, 2024.03.08

I watched the first release of this series a few years ago. Youtube just suggested the sequel.

It is simply astounding how well this is made. The story is engaging, the characters are realistic, and tone is perfectly maintained. The pacing is very good, the fate of the characters made sense, and the sense that the story has some effect was a nice change of pace. Also, I'll note that the cinematography is quite good and the use of CGI is simply perfect. It is done -- in a rarity for Star Wars or anything made these days -- with purpose. The CGI bits are added to the scenes with purpose. There were several times as I watched this that I stopped to replay a visual sequence for my wife.

Strongly recommended.

Visual story-telling Disney, have you heard of it?

And for once, after all these reviews, I can link to the whole thing right here.
