twenty-seven years and one million words

Chiba, 2024.01.01

Today after greeting the new year with a bit of a prayer and then a walk on the beach, we went to a place in Chiba where they have all sorts of survivalist games. We were there for ATV's. It was a blast, and the kids picked it up really well. We had The Boy driving while his mum rode with him, and then I rode with The Girl. Later, The Girl asked me what was my favorite part and I said, "How my daughter learned so well by listening and practicing and having fun." She said, "No, really."

When I asked her what was her favorite part, she said, "The puppies at the place."

We were maybe ten minutes from home when I got word of a terrible earthquake. I'm effectively always on call and at present I'm second to the VP for IT BCP, so it was right to work when we got home despite it being a national holiday.

If you want a golden rule that will fit everything, this is it: Have nothing in your home that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.
