movie review - Jason Bourne

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kokubunji, 2024.10.06

The Boy and I watched this after it turned up in a Netflix search. I hadn't heard of it, but I'd showed him the original at some point so we settled in.

I didn't enjoy it. The cast was largely a re-tread of the earlier movies, but without the energy, novelty, or sense that anyone involved really needed it. I reckon it's been too long since all of this started, the lead is past the point where he should be cast as a young guy obsessing about pleasing his father, which was an important plot-point. It was distracting. Perhaps this movie should have been made fifteen years earlier.

Not recommended.
