movie review - Lift
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
It is so hot outside that no one wants to go out for any reason. And so it is that I wound up watching this heist movie on Netflix.
It's splashy, it's high-pace, and the scenes and settings are generally interesting. It's certainly well cast. But it focuses on being cute and clever and nothing that happens really feels like it matters. There's certainly nothing memorable about it, as it perhaps this very thin review attests. For instance, a thought-to-be-dead character is revealed to be alive at one point, and the scene had very little emotional impact. I think it's because everyone in this thing is simply looking out for themself and spouting cute one-liners.
Not recommended.
