twenty-eight years and a million words

Kokubunji, 2024.06.07

Today I took the shinkansen back to Tokyo. I did a whopping session on wanikani.com, an online kanji study tool I've been using for several months (to great effect). One of the terms that's been in my queue of late is "車内", for "in the car". I thought, boy that seems a bit of a stretch. Then I noticed regular updates rolling across the screen reminding everyone of this or that rule (of which I remain ignorant due to illiteracy). But I noticed each rule started with "車内". Well played, wanikani, well played.

Here's a pic of my watch build, taken on the shinkansen.

rand()m quote

In the wake of 9/11, we [in America] have made the decision as a society that we can never again create something in which we can take pride, for fear that someone will destroy it. Moreover, we must suppress any trace of individualism, lest someone have the desire to rise above the bland sameness that protects us. I have, alas, no idea how to recapture our courage.
