more trouble for the car guys
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
The other day I shared a link to the woes of the car manufacturing industry as they face unprecedented problems. This is a closer look at Germany's situation and I have to agree with the poster's conclusions. Anything that's this bad for Europe's car manufacturers is going to be pretty bad indeed for Europe's economic - and therefor political - stability. I guess that's how it goes when you base an entire global economy of producing expensive machines out of vanishing mineral resources to supplement the consumption of petroleum.
In completely unrelated news, it looks like both June and July of 2023 were the hottest ever recorded in Japan. And that tropical storm Dora, which started life off the west coast of Africa, could enter the western Pacific some time soon, making it only the second storm in history to be both a Hurricane and a Typhoon. And this year's season has just begun!
