opening day for salmon in 2023

twenty-eight years and a million words

Campbell River, 2023.07.15

At 05:30, we hit the water at high tide and headed to the shore off the south end of Quadra island.

The weather was perfect, the company was outstanding, and I caught both a Chinook and a Coho (which was wild and had to go back). I also had a number of fish get off the hook and had a line break(!) on a huge fish that would easily have been the largest I've caught. I actually prefer mid-sized fish (like the Coho, and also Mackerel) but it was amazing to see.

It was a great day.

rand()m quote

Immature poets imitate mature poets steal bad poets deface what they take and good poets make it into something better or at least something different. The good poet welds his theft into a whole of feeling which is unique utterly different than that from which it is torn the bad poet throws it into something which has no cohesion. A good poet will usually borrow from authors remote in time or alien in language or diverse in interest.

—T.S. Eliot
