home again
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
This morning we left our hotel and made our way back to Naha. I had had a brief wander up and down the beach before leaving, and the sky certainly seemed to be threatening rain but it never came in large quantities. We toured the market once again, looking for lunch, and then our trip was done. Mari and the kids got omiyage, and that was about it.
We flew without incident - without, in fact, any of the turbulence that marked our first flight - and I got a fair bit of homework done. Then the interminable train rides back from Narita, and we were back in Kokubunji. One funny final thing that happened was that we couldn't find - or call! - a taxi in Kokubunji, and after a twenty minute search we gave up and walked home with our luggage.
I'm happy to report that the gold fish had survived four days without food, as expected. If anything, the aquarium is a bit cleaner than usual. I suspect they'd been eating the algae.
