movie review - The Curse of Bridge Hollow

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kokubunji, 2022.11.12

This is a fun story about a kid who moves to a small town with her parents. She unearths something that was hidden in the attic and all hell breaks loose. It's a magic widget that she's found, y'see, and it begins to animate objects of all sizes and shapes in ever-expanding circles. Soon the girl and all her friends and family are swept up in a fight to save their town. Like one of those Goosebumps movies but with giant spiders.

It was cute, if somewhat non-challenging viewing. The mother does little other than produce appalling cooking. The father (Marlon Wayans) has much more of a presence, but his role is mostly being Marlon Wayans.

Recommended. For 'movie night'.

Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master. For this reason mastery demands all of a person.
