Typhoon Manmadol, which is currently making landfall in Kyushu, may be the largest (geographically) in the history of Japan. It's expected to be so severe that my brother-in-law's employer has shut down the factory, which hasn't happened previously in the 27 years he's worked there. This follows typhoon Muifa, which was apparently the strongest to ever make landfall at Shanghai.
Whatever could be going on.
