movie review - Mother/Android

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kokubunji, 2022.02.01

This is a frustrating Sci-Fi/thriller flick that doesn't realize it's promise. It's set in a post-apocalyptic world in which The Machines Have Risen and it's now a Crapsack world. The heroine is pregnant and with her man she's trying to reach a purportedly safe location.

I'll summarize what happens in this as this: the subject matter is mis-handled. They put some weird ideals (or perhaps their opposite - rules?) before an emotionally resonant story.

Not recommended.

It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
