movie review - Abominable

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kokubunji, 2021.10.10

In this story, a girl finds a yeti cowering on the roof-top of her building. Before you can say "road trip", she's entrained a couple of likely lads in an effort to get the poor thing home.

This animated feature has a distinct drawing style and moves along at a good clip (it is barely 91 minutes long, including title screens and credits). It's over before you know it but it's to imagine that they could have added anything to this that wouldn't have distracted from what is a high-pace, fun, flick with a plot that inasmuch as three children transporting a yeti makes sense, makes sense. Even the heavies in this thing have clear motivation (and as it turns out, limits past which they won't go).

Recommended. For "movie night" with the kids.

I like my buddies from west Texas. I liked them when I was young, I liked them when I was middle-age, I liked them before I was president, and I like them during president, and I like them after president.
