movie review - The Little Things

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kokubunji, 2021.09.13

This is the story of a detective who is sent to his former precinct in Los Angeles to complete some paperwork. While there, he becomes embroiled in a case involving several missing girls. Entering an uneasy alliance with a detective in that precinct, he starts to not only uncover what's happening but also to deal with his own past and the case that consumed him. It's a strong story of the two characters leading the investigation and their main suspect. They manage to avoid a lot of cliches en route, which is refreshing, and the whole thing has a very authentic feel to it. It's good watching, though the fellow playing the villain takes it a bit over the top.

Recommended.
