movie review - Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kokubunji, 2021.07.10

This is a sci-fi action film about a pair of agents for a galaxy-spanning government military force of some kind. It's a time in the distant future when humanity's left Earth behind to travel the stars in a massive man-made world-city that's home to countless other species.

The cast is young and hot and there's plenty of interesting sets and scenes and an almost unbelievable combination of chase scenes and borderline racist depictions of primitive societies.

Recommended. For parents stuck with some tweens to entertain.
