movie review - Finding ‘Ohana

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

This is an entertaining film that's basically "The Goonies" in Hawaii plus girls. With a family in financial difficulty, four youngsters (actually portrayed by young people) set out semi-intentionally to find fabled gold. It's well done, though a tad stiff and stilted in parts.

Recommended. Good family viewing during this blasted pandemic.

rand()m quote

Remove everything that has no relevance to the story. If you say in the first chapter that there is a rifle hanging on the wall, in the second or third chapter it absolutely must go off. If it's not going to be fired, it shouldn't be hanging there.

—Anton Chekhov
