jupiter and saturn

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Kokubunji, 2020.12.21

We were treated to an amazing image of the moon, Saturn, and Jupiter all crowded into a single corner of a cloudless sky at dusk, tonight. What a fine solstice!

No, I have no photos. The objects in the sky were all right at the horizon amidst buildings and power cables and so on, and I have no gear worthy of the task.

rand()m quote

In the wake of 9/11, we [in America] have made the decision as a society that we can never again create something in which we can take pride, for fear that someone will destroy it. Moreover, we must suppress any trace of individualism, lest someone have the desire to rise above the bland sameness that protects us. I have, alas, no idea how to recapture our courage.
