Tonight I was out taking some photos and I ran across a masked palm civet, and introduced species that humans brought with them for some reason during prehistoric times. Seems like an odd thing to bring on a sailboat from Taiwan, but the Wikipedia page says genetics shows that that happened at least twice.

I didn't get a photo, unfortunately.

There was a crazy coincidence in this sighting: I was speaking with someone earlier in the day who was relating the story of having had one live in the roof of his house. I had never heard of the things being in Japan before that. Funny that I'd end the day seeing one!
