Tonight I was out taking some photos and I ran across a masked palm civet, and introduced species that humans brought with them for some reason during prehistoric times. Seems like an odd thing to bring on a sailboat from Taiwan, but the Wikipedia page says genetics shows that that happened at least twice.

I didn't get a photo, unfortunately.

There was a crazy coincidence in this sighting: I was speaking with someone earlier in the day who was relating the story of having had one live in the roof of his house. I had never heard of the things being in Japan before that. Funny that I'd end the day seeing one!

rand()m quote

It's difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.
