a long day (part two)

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kawasaki, 2020.03.09

I wrote about all my running around in the city but I left out one exhausting piece. When I was at the ward office I got a very annoying email from the HR people at NN Life at 10:40. It was worded as follows.

"I think you will be able to join as of 16th/Mar. We need to proceed HR procedure ASAP. Please find the attached file.(Documents of joining) Basically you can submit when you come to office as of 3/16. But #3 Word file, Personal information Registration, could you submit today by 15:00?"

It had no fewer than 19 attachments. Of which I could read only one. So, I had a shot at the one I could read but when I forwarded the whole mess to Mari (after she and I discussed it) it turned out that my off-brand word processing software had damaged the formatting of the tables and I'd done that wrong. We got it in by 15:00.

So, just because she has nothing else to do, Mari now has a raft of new work.

What really amazes me is that this didn't come up in the call I had with the fellow's boss just this morning!
