to the aquarium!

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2020.02.23

We took the kids to the aquarium today because The Girl had an annual pass that was about to expire. When we were at the "Ontario waters" exhibit, The Boy took pains to point out how many walleye there were, and that I was yet to catch one while he has in fact caught one. I refrained from pointing out that he insisted that we stop fishing the evening he caught his before I had a similar chance, or that he was skunked all summer last year.

rand()m quote

It has always seemed strange to me...The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling, are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest, are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.
