Valentine's day lunch

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2020.02.13

With tomorrow being a PA day, meaning the kids would be home, Mari and I headed out together for a Valentine's day lunch at a Lebanese restaurant in Leslieghville. To be honest, the food was a touch disappointing, but it was nice to have some time to ourselves. We fit in the outing before a delivery truck was expected, bringing my new 16EE office shoes from the US. Happily, I also got a call from the other shoe store that my new sneakers were ready - I'd now have shoes for my new life in Tokyo.

rand()m quote

In the wake of 9/11, we [in America] have made the decision as a society that we can never again create something in which we can take pride, for fear that someone will destroy it. Moreover, we must suppress any trace of individualism, lest someone have the desire to rise above the bland sameness that protects us. I have, alas, no idea how to recapture our courage.
