articular disc slipped
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
I had to go to a dentist today because of a persistent problem in my jaw. It's lasted about a week. It turns out that due to stress, I've been grinding my teeth at night and this has led to the articular discs in my jaw slipping out of place. So I now can't close my mouth fully. What's more, the fix is meant to be a mouth-guard but they can't do the fitting because the grinding at night was flexing my teeth which caused the enamel to degrade at the outside base of a number of molars. So they have to fix that first. Those fixes started today but I need to back a couple more times before they can even do the fitting. It'll be next year before I'm fitted with the mouth-guard.
In the mean time it looks like I have to wait for it to "correct itself".
