bird feeder

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Kokubunji, 2020.10.18

This past week the landlord sent some gardeners, who aggressively cut back the cedars and made pollards out of the deciduous trees. I counted nearly thirty trees and bushes in our small yard, but now we can actually see the space and out into the small street and the nearby houses. One unexpected benefit of this is that small song birds and even some jay-like corvids have begun coming by. So last night, despite yet another full day of rain, I went out and got a bird feeder and some suet balls.

We'll see if the cuckoos take any interest.

rand()m quote

It's difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.
