jobs in Toronto

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2020.02.11

While I wait for things to happen in Tokyo, I've been applying for roles in Toronto and the region. Today I applied for three, including one at PC Financial where I have an old friend as a reference. I let her know that I had applied and invoked her good name, and she said, "Ok – I will speak to HR. I have to follow up fairly shortly because I just quit!" This brings my total number of jobs applied to 84. All but about six of these were in the Toronto area, and I've yet to hear back from more than two, which were rejections.

rand()m quote

The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love, and in order to occupy and distract himself without love he gives way to passions and coarse pleasures, and sinks to bestiality in his vices, all from continual lying to other men and to himself.

—Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
