movie review - Kingsman: The Secret Service

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Nichinan, Miyazaki, 2020.01.12

The way this movie was advertised didn't appeal to me. But I got around to it and I'm glad I did. It's about a kid from a disadvantaged background being recruited into a secret government intelligence unit that operates behind the guise of a men's tailor shop. It's smart, it's well-paced, it's fairly original, and it couldn't possibly be better cast. It keeps a steady and engaging tone throughout, and even the Bond-like plot plays well. There's lots for everyone to do in this thing, and after years of super-hero movies where it's like they have far more characters than plot to stuff them in, even that is a welcome break.

Recommended.

The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.
