movie review - Avengers Endgame

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2019.10.04

What a load of shit. There are so many story-writing problems with this that I won't even go into it, other than by saying the seven year old was questioning the happenings and the eleven year old was openly mocking it. The writing and essence of these comic-book movies are now substantially worse than the '80s comics on which they are based, and that is really saying something. By this point any pretense of story or character or meaning is hung like sparse tinsel on a "plot" of Charlie Brown Christmas Tree grade. When kids start to lose interest .. well, there's truly no point.

And I haven't seen The Girl lose interest in an action/sci-fi flick since the first Star Wars prequel.

Not recommended.

rand()m quote

In the wake of 9/11, we [in America] have made the decision as a society that we can never again create something in which we can take pride, for fear that someone will destroy it. Moreover, we must suppress any trace of individualism, lest someone have the desire to rise above the bland sameness that protects us. I have, alas, no idea how to recapture our courage.
