twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2019.09.18

I've just realized that it was thirty years ago this month that I returned to Ontario to start my university studies. The school: Brock. The motto: If you can walk and talk, you can get into Brock.

There's something about the weather in the period in late-August to mid-September. Still fairly warm and humid but noticeably past the worst of the summer's heat and humidity. I haven't lived here for the entirety of the past thirty years, but this time always takes me back.

rand()m quote

The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love, and in order to occupy and distract himself without love he gives way to passions and coarse pleasures, and sinks to bestiality in his vices, all from continual lying to other men and to himself.

—Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
