long point disappointment
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
This morning "grandma" and I drove from Saint Catharines to Long Point on Lake Erie hoping to see the provincial park; we failed. First, we hit a couple of detours on the highways which set us back a bit, so it was around noon by the time we arrived. But then, we realized that it was impassible: the long weekend cottagers had the place completely choked with traffic. We inched forward over the final couple of kilometers but after 30 minutes or so realized that parking was going to be an issue, and we weren't sure that we'd even be able to access the park. Also, it dawned on us that we'd somehow have to shortly leave for lunch and then come back through it all again.
Maybe we'll try again in the off-season, with Mari and the kids.
