movie review - Big Game

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2018.06.29

This is an ambitious movie about a young lad who's sent out to kill a reindeer with a bow and arrow as part of his "becoming a man". Instead he stumbles upon the down escape pod of the US President, which was ejected from Air Force 1. Things move along nicely from there until one of the President's men turns up in an all-too-predictable attempt to kill rather than save the President. The ending unfortunately just descends into something that feels designed by committee.

There are some good moments.

Not recommended. Sadly. This movie had a few good ideas and the central idea is great.

You have to choose between trusting to the natural stability of gold and the natural stability of the honesty and intelligence of the members of the Government. And, with due respect for these gentlemen, I advise you, as long as the Capitalist system lasts, to vote for gold.
